A Note from the Bank Blockaders

The bank blockade was an autonomous action from individuals within Occupy Uc Davis. The blockade of the US Bank is part of a history of the student struggle against the privatization of public universities and international austerity. Days like November 18th may become infamous in the public eye, but the blockade of the US Bank was a real battle against the privatization agenda, and its closure is a victory. Every step away from capital in our education is a step toward freedom.
Our struggle is an international struggle, from Cairo to Greece, Oakland to Davis.

Days of Action to Defend Public Education, March 1st – 5th

March 1st – 5th have been declared statewide days of action to defend public education,
During these days there will be a number of actions at UCD and the capitol in Sacramento.

March 1st – Day of action at UC Davis
in solidarity with colleges and universities nationwide
11am, UCD Quad – Funeral Procession For Public Education
March and eulogy. Wear black!

12pm, UCD Quad – speakers and open mic

March 3rd – Re-establish the occupation of the Quad!
The 99 Mile March will be arriving in Davis on March 4th (see below).
Help us re-occupy the quad to give them a proper welcome! We’ll be setting up starting at 4pm.

March 4th – The 99 Mile March comes to UCD! (facebook event)
The march will arrive in Davis in late afternoon/early evening.
Potluck and film screening.

March 5th – Occupy the Capitol! (facebook event)
10am – mass march
11 am – rally at the Capitol building
12:30 – lunch @ Capitol
3:30 – nonviolent direct action training

We are organizing carpooling to Sacramento on the 5th.
Please e-mail us if you want a ride or plan to drive and will have extra seats.

Volunteer Needs:
- We need tent builders for March 3rd, we will meet in the quad at 2pm to start building the tents for the marchers one night stay
- Someone to do supply runs to marchers while they walk (i.e. delivering bottled water)
- Food Preparation and serving the night of the 4th, Dinner will be served at 6:30pm
- Morning Food/Coffee distribution
- Need help with breaking down tents on the 6th

Donations to feed the 99 mile marchers as they pass through Davis on March 4
Some suggestions:
- Flour Tortillas
- Rice
- Water (lots of water!)
- Tortilla Chips
- Hot Sauce
- Beans
- Coffee
- We need Tables and Dishes too!
- Anything that you want just let us know if you have ideas on what you would like to bring!

Stand with Occupy Oakland Against Police Oppression

Occupy UC Davis stands in solidarity with the Oakland Commune, condemns police brutality and mass arrests of Oakland occupiers, and is calling for a support rally this Wednesday at noon.

Oakland occupiers intended to create a social center, convergence center, headquarters, free kitchen, and place of housing in an abandoned building. The police response: tear gas, rubber bullets, concussion grenades and mass arrests.

“If the cops are willing to defend property over people, I think that shows where the city’s priorities are,” – Carla Orendorff, Davis Occupier. We cannot allow for the police to impede our reclamation of empty spaces. Come join the UC Davis response on Wednesday at noon, have your voice heard, and stand up against thugs with badges.

There will likely be a bit of mic checking, bit of marching, and also a noise demonstration, so bring something loud.

This event was endorsed by the Occupy UC Davis General Assembly.

OCCUPY OAKLAND NEEDS BAIL FUNDS! (click here to donate) Police Chief Howard Jordan has been quoted in AP saying there were almost 400 people arrested yesterday. There are many people who were arrested that need urgent medical attention, people who have been injured by the police or do not have their medication with them that they need to treat prior conditions. We need the money to bail these people out!

Many people who have medical needs were unable to prevent themselves from being arrested, or to retrieve their medication, because the police did not give a dispersal order– they just kettled. We are still gathering names.

Our bail funds have been dwindling significantly as a result of the police backlash against occupy oakland in the last month, if you are able, PLEASE donate – 10, 50, 100, whatever you can!

EOP fact sheet

- The occupation of the building formerly known as the Cross Cultural Center (henceforth BFKCCC) was not approved by the Occupy UCD General Assembly.
- The people occupying BFKCCC are engaging in autonomous action and do not represent all of Occupy UCD. At the same time, the people who choose to not participate in the BFKCCC occupation will not join the administration in pushing out their fellow occupiers.
- At the time that the BFKCCC occupation was being planned, it was not known that the building was scheduled to be given to EOP. The EOP website did not mention this either.
- Some of the Occupy UCD members held a joint meeting with some of the EOP members. Several compromise solutions have been brought up, such as giving the BFKCCC to EOP, but having the building remain autonomous from the administration. EOP members have so far not expressed an interest in such solutions.
- We did not peel off the letters from the sign next to BFKCCC. This was done before we arrived.
- The two communiques released shortly after the start of the BFKCCC occupation never went through the GA or the media committee, and represent the opinions of their authors only.
- BFKCCC occupiers had laptops, tablets, and cameras stolen from them on the night of 1/25. Items which belonged to the building rather than the occupiers were left untouched. The General Assembly voted to help the victims obtain new laptops.

ReOccupy Rally Details

Occupy UC Davis will rally and discuss the occupation on this day.

This event is in solidarity with the protesters at UC Riverside who were attacked by the police this week.

The rally will start Tuesday at noon in front of Dutton Hall.
The themes are public education, solidarity with UCR, and selection of
a new occupy location.

Rally plan:

People suggest locations that we can occupy. If you have a suggestion, please research it beforehand.

If more than 5 options, take a straw poll to determine 5 most

popular locations.

A march through campus with chants and posters. This will be the central part of the rally. The march will pass through the 5 locations selected in the straw poll to give people a chance to look at their options.

Return to Dutton and vote on the best location.

Meeting Sunday 5 p.m. @ CoHo patio to make posters and prepare for the rally.

We need someone to make flyers and someone to volunteer Monday or Tuesday morning (before 7 a.m.) to chalk rally announcements on boards in lecture halls.
